Superintendent of Schools Douglas Adams was unanimously authorized to seek permission for the change with the state Department of Education during a vote on Feb. 7, according to lohud.com.

The name change, which would see Ramapo Central become the Suffern Central School District, still has quite a few hurdles before it becomes officials, according to lohud.com, which reported that paperwork must be filed and approved and that the a new school district logo would be designed representing its various villages.

According to lohud.com, Ramapo Central routinely receives media and public requests that are actually intended for East Ramapo. The district floated the idea of a name change last fall while discussing a rebranding process intended to alleviate the problem, according to lohud.com.
